Managing partner Marc E. Hankin brings to clients a wealth of experience in all types of intellectual property counsel and litigation, including patent prosecution, trademark registration, copyright registration, and licensing agreements. He also litigates in all of those areas and also false advertising and other unfair competition cases, including Section 17200, as well as handling trade secrets litigation.
Mr. Hankin’s carefully considered approach to protecting and maximizing all of a client's intellectual property rights has been recognized by his peers and competitors. He has been selected as a SuperLawyer® for the past three years. This recognition places him in the top 5% of attorneys in Southern California (Los Angeles Magazine and the New York Times).
Marc E. Hankin serves as local counsel for a variety of national and international clients. He draws on his post-Law School Clerkship to supplement his training at Penn Law School in parsing and understanding Local Rules and Judge’s Standing Orders (“local-local rules”), thus enabling him to become an authority on the complex Local Rules of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. Mr. Hankin has taught several classes under the auspices of the Los Angeles Intellectual Property Law Association on the Federal Rules and the C.D. Cal. Local Rules.
Mr. Hankin has worked with and testified before several U.S. government agencies regarding the newly-signed Hague Convention on Choice of Court Agreements and was integrally involved in the development of that new treaty. Mr. Hankin has been the only U.S. patent lawyer involved throughout the entire process. Mr. Hankin also has extensive experience in applying the other Hague Conventions on Service of Process, Taking of Evidence, and Enforcement of Judgments in International Intellectual Property cases.
